I Work At A Beautiful School

The label stone for my main school 설천중학교 (Seolcheon Middle School)

This week my middle schoolers are on a camping trip, so I have a lot of time to kill in the office.

Road Trippin' In A Circle: Round 1

Yesterday was Easter Sunday, and I was lucky enough to spend it on a road trip around my beautiful island with some great friends.  (LOTS OF PICTURES)

A Surprise Festival in Seolcheon

A traditional Korean game called 투호 (Tu-ho)

Wednesdays I teach at 설천초등학교 (Seolcheon Elementary School).  Usually the faculty play a rally style game of volleyball after classes are finished, which I always enjoy.  Today though, my co-teacher informed me that there would be a small festival involving the rest of our small community of 설천 (Seolcheon).  They had a volleyball tournament with the different organizations around the area forming teams, as well as some traditional Korean games, like 투호 (Tu-ho) pictured above.

Carving a Mountain

This past Wednesday, en lieu of the weekly volleyball game at Seolcheon Elementary, we set off up the mountain by our school.  About half way up, I was surprised to find a beautiful sculpture garden.  The sculptor and his wife live there, and he is apparently a pretty well known sculptor in Korea.

Tanks, And Snow, And Muh Mate

Just me getting ready for war
Over my winter break, I was lucky enough to get a visit from an old friend.  Sotha and I grew up together, and have been best friends since we met in the sixth grade.  He lives near enough to Korea these days, that when he was given a small five day vacation, he was able to come for a visit.  We did a lot and had tons of fun.
