Carving a Mountain

This past Wednesday, en lieu of the weekly volleyball game at Seolcheon Elementary, we set off up the mountain by our school.  About half way up, I was surprised to find a beautiful sculpture garden.  The sculptor and his wife live there, and he is apparently a pretty well known sculptor in Korea.

Just me attempting to feed this dragon a rock.

My co-teacher and I walked around, and she was kind enough to take a few pictures for me on her phone.  I accidentally left mine in the school.  She kept calling me a 'Picture Monster', by which I'm not sure what she meant.

After viewing his art, we were invited into the house of the sculptor.  As a foreigner, I was treated with a degree of celebrity that I find somewhat uncomfortable, but have come to accept.  I was sat next to the artist for a small (very small) meal and some drinks.  We chatted for a while (mostly through his friend and agent who spoke nearly fluent English), and then made our way back down the mountain.

It was a nice surprise and a wonderful opportunity for me to see a little bit of the community in which I live and work.
