The DMZ

A trip to the DeMilitarized Zone that separates the Koreas is a very solemn and confusing undertaking.

A Bit 'O Hiking

I did a bit of hiking today.  I just felt like exploring a little.  It felt pretty good.

Chuseok

The Jinju Lantern Festival
The long weekend was amazing.  From Friday night to Wednesday I had a full schedule.  Thanks to my good, new friend Warren and a boat load (literally) of visitors I had a great little holiday weekend.

My Left Shoe Fits As Well As My Right

The view down my street headed back from the bus station.
It's been a pretty good week so far.  I've had my first 'real' classes with all my elementary students, and I'm starting to understand what my co-teachers are going to expect of me.  I've also made a few key strides in my social world, as well as managed to get over the final bureaucratic hump of getting set up in a new place.  So far, it's been a pretty good week.

Koreiention Week

The view from the teachers' office in my main school: Seolcheon Middle School.
It's been some kind of a week.  To start with, I experienced my first typhoon/ hurricane in person.  Typhoon Sanba tore through South Korea on Monday.  I was luckier than some.

25 Hours to Korea

A fountain and sculpture just down the street from my hotel in Changwon.

My travels over the last two days have taken me across the world, and they're not over yet...

Texas In Spring

There are few places on Earth that are more beautiful than Central Texas in the spring. We've finally got some (but not loads) of rain, and everything is in bloom. For those that don't know Texas has had its worst drought in 100 years, and it has been going on for over a year. It is refreshing, in more ways than one, to get rain. It's nice to see that the world is still green. It endures, even through such long periods of stress. It's nice to have a reminder, from time to time, that things can do that.
